South Bank Colleges is delighted to share that one of its own students has had her artwork selected by Lambeth Council for this year’s official festive campaign. The winning design was created by Joana Silva, a talented student on the Extended Diploma Level 3 in Graphic Design at Lambeth College.
Joana’s illustration, now appearing across Lambeth Council’s social media channels, was chosen for the way it celebrates the borough’s vibrancy, diversity and sense of community. Her design transforms the outline of Lambeth into a Christmas tree, with joyful characters placed throughout—each drawn in a style that matches the council’s visual identity while adding her own creative flair. The council described her work as “a true reflection of the borough and the spirit of Christmas.”
The project was developed as part of students’ first-term coursework, guided by Graphics Lecturer Joao Boavida and supported by the wider Creative Arts and Media team. It challenged learners to work to a real client brief, follow brand guidelines, and produce artwork ready for professional digital use—an invaluable industry experience.

Joao said the achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of the whole group, “Teaching and supporting these students through their first term has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. We’re proud to see Joana’s creativity recognised by the council, and grateful to colleagues Craig, Laura, Saje and Ken for their support along the way.”
For Joana, having her artwork shared publicly across the borough is a significant professional milestone and an inspiring start to her creative career.
South Bank Colleges congratulates Joana for this fantastic accomplishment and looks forward to seeing where her talent takes her next.
