Students at South Bank Colleges’ Clapham campus recently stepped beyond the classroom and into the world of work, as a lively Careers Fair brought together employers from across sport, business, travel, tourism, and early years education.
The event, organised by the college's Employer Engagement officer, Breveena Sahi, created a buzzing, informal marketplace of ideas, with students moving from stand to stand, asking questions, making connections, and beginning to picture what their own futures might look like.
A strong line-up of employers helped bring those possibilities to life. In the sports and fitness corner, Afewee Boxing and PureGym shared insights into careers built on discipline, wellbeing, and community engagement. Both organisations highlighted the wide range of roles available in the sector, from coaching and personal training to facility management and business operations.

For students interested in public service and stable career pathways, representatives from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) offered a valuable window into roles that support communities across the UK. Their presence helped demystify careers in government, showing how administrative and advisory roles can have a real impact on people’s lives.
Business-minded students found plenty to spark their interest too. Surge, a company focused on helping organisations grow through smarter systems and processes, spoke about the importance of adaptability, digital skills, and problem-solving in modern workplaces. Their message was clear: the future belongs to those who can think strategically and work efficiently in fast-changing environments.
Quint Education brought a different perspective, focusing on opportunities within education and student support services. Their conversations with learners highlighted how careers in education extend far beyond teaching alone, opening doors into mentoring, safeguarding, and specialist support roles.
Meanwhile, Green Fortune added a forward-looking dimension, introducing students to careers connected to sustainability and environmentally conscious business practices. As green skills continue to grow in importance, their presence reinforced the relevance of emerging industries and the opportunities they present.
Throughout the event, students engaged directly with professionals, gaining practical advice on career pathways, qualifications, and the skills employers value most. For many, it was the first time they had spoken one-to-one with someone working in their area of interest.
The Careers Fair also underlined the importance of confidence and communication. Students were encouraged to introduce themselves, ask questions, and think about how their current studies link to future ambitions. These small but significant interactions are often the first steps towards meaningful career decisions.
Events like this are a key part of the college’s commitment to preparing students for life beyond education. By bringing employers onto campus, students are given the chance to explore real-world opportunities in a supportive and familiar environment.
As one student reflected during the event, speaking to employers made future career ideas feel “more real, and more possible.”
With strong partnerships and a growing network of employers, South Bank Colleges continues to create opportunities where ambition meets opportunity—and where students can begin shaping their futures with confidence.
