Is this course for you?

This apprenticeship is for people working in adult care who are ready to take on more responsibility. It is suited to care staff who support adults directly but also want to help guide, mentor or supervise others. You may already be working in a residential home, nursing home, supported living service, day service, community care setting or another adult care environment.

What experience and skills will you gain?

You will develop the skills needed to lead high-quality, person-centred care. This includes supporting care planning, safeguarding, communication, risk awareness, professional boundaries, equality and diversity, dignity, mental capacity and safe working practices. You will also learn how to support colleagues, model good practice, contribute to improvements in care and help create a positive experience for the people receiving support.

  • How will you be assessed?

    Assessment will take place throughout the apprenticeship through workplace evidence, observations, progress reviews, professional discussions and practical tasks linked to your care setting. You may also complete a relevant adult care qualification as part of the programme, depending on the agreed delivery model. At the end, an independent End Point Assessment will check that you can work safely and effectively as a Lead Adult Care Worker.

  • Where can this course take you?

    This apprenticeship can support progression into roles such as senior care worker, care team leader, care supervisor, senior support worker or key worker. It can also provide a strong foundation for further study in adult care, health and social care, leadership or management.
